[edit] Ahom history
This article is a very fine example of what the category Category:History of Assam seeks to collect. Thank you.
I would suggest that this article be moved to Ahom-Mughal conflicts because it deals specifically with this topic. At a later date when we do have Ahom history covering the entire history from 1228 to 1826 in a broad overview format in the style of History of Assam, we may then include Ahom-Mughal conflicts as a main article link to a subtopic of the Ahom history page. If you do agree, please indicate it, and I shall move the article.
Thanks,

- The article has been moved. --Chaipau 19:27, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Ahom capitals
It might be nice to put up a list of Ahom capitals, from Charaideo to Jorhat. Who constructed which capital and when were they capitals. Could you help with this? --Chaipau 19:27, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] New articles
Thank you for your edits. When you create new articles, please create them properly. An example would be the way that I have improved your article Gauhati Medical College and Hospital. Please fix Assam Engineering College and the Cotton College, and any others. Hu 13:08, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
Done!

[edit] Atan Burhagohain
I have moved the page Atan Buragohain to Atan Burhagohain. This wiki has used the spelling Burhagohain consistently and I think it should stick to it. Also, could you supply a reference to the article please? Before it gets flagged? Thanks.

[edit] King Rajeshvara of Assam
In an article I am working on for Bhagya Chandra, it refers to a King Rajeshvara of the Ahom Kingdom who ruled around the 1760's or so. Do you know more about this person?Bakaman Bakatalk 01:28, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
- Namaskar, Bhagya Chandra is up on articlespace. Even if you just make a stub for King Rajeshvara (I would, but I dont know his Oxomiya name) it would be useful, so that I can make the Bhagya Chandra article ready for "Did you know" section on main page. Bakaman Bakatalk 01:05, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
On another note, I noticed you made a few pages on Hindu temples, to mark your stub as a Hindu temple stub use {{Hindu-temple-stub}}, also (if you have enough info) use Template:Infobox Mandir to make the info on Hindu temple pages across wiki more streamlined. Bakaman Bakatalk 01:05, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
- I put links to Ching-Thang Khomba and Chitsai on the Rajeshvar Singha article.Bakaman Bakatalk 15:58, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Other Help
I noticed Ching-Thang_Khomba#The_Retaking_of_Manipur and Rajeswar_Singha#Expedition_to_Manipur should ttalk about the same thing . Is there a source you have for this section (a Buranji perhaps) ? Since the Suramphaa article has the better info, I'll rewrite the section onto the Jai Singh page.Bakaman Bakatalk 19:36, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
- I rewote most of the suramphaa section on the Jai Singh page.Bakaman Bakatalk 21:51, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Replies
- I found a downloadable copy of A History of Assam here. I dont have anything making a definite connection Srimanta Shankardeva to Jai Singh (though he was definitely an influence). Hinduism came to Manipur via Sylhet, so it is a possibility. If you look at List of Meitei kings, I think the first or second kings are during Srimanta's time. For the article, I've mostly relied on websites, because I dont have much access to books.Bakaman Bakatalk 15:47, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
- Another Source - Tungkhungia Buranji or a History of Assam, 1681-1826 A. D.: An Old Assamese Chronicle of the Tungkhungia Dynasty of Ahom Sovereigns by S. K. Bhuyan - Geographical Journal, Vol. 84, No. 6 (Dec., 1934), p. 525
I cant open it though because I dont have a JSTOR account (its free if youre at a major American university).Bakaman Bakatalk 16:02, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] License tagging for Image:Bor-Sola Beel.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Bor-Sola Beel.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 19:05, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Cremation of Rudra Singha
The cremation of Rudra Singha at North Guwahati is disputed by historians. Padmeshwar Gogoi (1968, The Tai and the Tai kingdoms, p509) writes:
On the death of Rudra Singha his eldest son, Barjana Gohain, who was at Gauhati with his father, sailed up with the dead body of the deceased king and ascended the throne at Rangpur. The body was embalmed at Chungpura for a fortnight and, according to the Changrung Phukanar Buranji, entombed in the month of Kartik and not cremated as some accounts say.
Could you please cite this as well as your source at the various places Rudra Singha's cremation is mentioned.

[edit] Commercial use of Image:Barak river.jpg
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Barak river.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Barak river.jpg is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only" or "used with permission for use on Wikipedia only" which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3).
If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.
If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.
If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:Barak river.jpg itself. [edit] Non-free use disputed for Image:Logo national games.jpg
| This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Logo national games.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:23, 1 July 2007 (UTC)
