[edit] Go go

Hi, if you'd like to check out the Go go page, it needs some work. Thanks. --AW 17:40, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Funk

I don't have much time to look at books as i'm in the middle of exams, but if i get some free time I'll add the book to my library allotment. I really just for clarity HAD to remove the awful stuff. It had completely wrong info on compositional arrangement and structure. A person on the talk page was saying it was right because he listened vaguely to a recording? Original research much? They'll be saying I'm wrong because they looked at an internet tab next. If you're ever interested in how a Wiki article should go forward and improve, read the Encarta version first. Always first. Then see how bad our article is compared. Full of POV, weird recently invented theories without maturation time, lack of citations for essentially plagirised text. Text without attribution is plagiarism. I'm sure most people have good intentions but I worry when I read about professionals creating a new version of Wiki because ours is so wrong and uncited. All it needs is inline citations for wikipedia to work. I do think it's important, because Wikipedia will be used for poor people in African countries one day. It really will. Just hold the faith, people who add citations and decent text we haven't pulled out of our arses are reforming education worldwide. --I'll bring the food (Talk - Contribs - My Watchlist) 17:04, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Removal from Jeff Buckley page

Hi Dissolve, I can understand how you felt Ether Frolics was not notable enough to include in the tribute song list. Not many people have heard of the band but we (I, James Warden was a member and wrote the song you deleted) did manage to put out some great music and tour the United States, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

If you are curious to hear some music to see how legit we are, you can check out our page on last.fm. I leave it up to you if you want to add us back in to the list.

Thank you for considering this.--Jimiwo 20:12, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

hey, thanks for your fast response! here's the poetry -

I'm jealous of the wind as it moves through his hair, lucky ray of light to touch his lip
Evening fallen, ruin a young moon, Mississippi, why'd you take him?
My face changes beneath my beard and my body beneath my skin
My mind changes beneath ribbons in the sky
Evening fallen, ruin a young moon, Mississippi, why'd you take him?
I had a feeling of being under a system of winds
and here's the sound -JEALOUS----Jimiwo 01:24, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Kate Mara Headshot01.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Kate Mara Headshot01.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ytny (talk) 09:35, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your Serial 'Fair Rationale' Warnings

With all due respect, do you really have any idea what you're doing stalking around the net leaving notices without bothering to read the whole page? I pay specific attention when adding a photo to Wikipedia to match the photo with the appropriate licencing notice. This was an exercise in time-wasting...yours and mine. Example: a photo of a book cover, clearly identified by a licencing notice that deals with book covers. The photo was used to illustrate a book written by the subject author. Things could not be clearer by Wikipedia standards. Ugh! A Sniper 18:11, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Trying to improve a poorly written, poorly cited, and unclear article hardly qualifies as stalking. And things could not be clearer under WP:CSD#I6: "Any image or media without a fair use rationale may be deleted seven days after it is uploaded. Boilerplate fair use templates do not constitute a fair use rationale". Sorry if you had a hard time understanding the policy. Dissolve 07:59, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Polydream

I see you've tagged Polydream for speedy. Do you think that their two albums (under the Tin Whisper Media Group) assert notability? It's a bit of a walled garden, but I cannot unilaterally delete the albums (not tagged speedy) and with 2 album articles that remain it seems a bit odd to delete the group's article on notability grounds. Perhaps they should all be tagged, or all taken to afd together. I'll hold off for now, but do let me know - thanks for your help in keeping WP clean. Carlossuarez46 17:33, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

  • I think I'll remove the speedy, prod it, and prod the albums as well, unless someone's already deleted the lot. Carlossuarez46 18:26, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image licencing

Hi,

I noticed that you uploaded Image:Maceo_Parker_2005.jpg. This is a great image - I'm tempted to nominate it as a Featured Image. However, I'm confused about the licencing. It's marked as Creative Commons Attribution 2.0, which is a free licence by Wikipedia's conditions. However, it's also marked with "ALL COMMERCIAL USES of this images must be licenced through the photographer", which is a non-free condition which isn't compatible with the licence. I wonder if you could clarify? There's no mention on the flickr page of any licence conditions beyond CC Attribution 2.0. TSP 22:51, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] About main heading of article

Hi. Not complaining about you changing the torn heading to torn miniseries, just wondering how you do it. Lovinblue4eva

[edit] Thanks

Thanks for the revert of this! -- But|seriously|folks  18:07, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Snafu

I was about to create a page for the British Rock band SNAFU, but I see you've already deleted my entry for their eponymously titled album without telling me. So is there any point? Thanks. MMartin Evans 08:11, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

Now that none of the new links I added for Micky Moody work any more, do I have to go back and remove those too? Or do I get another lesson about "etiquette"? Martin Evans 13:34, 31 October 2007 (UTC).

The guideline MoS:DP#Redlinks has the necessary info for why I removed the links from Snafu: "Adding links to articles not yet written should be done with care". To create a new article, you can find the conventions for naming at WP:NAME; to summarize: Snafu (band), and Snafu (Snafu album) would be good places. You may also want to review WP:FAITH. dissolvetalk 15:23, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the advice. I note from WP:FAITH: "Be patient with genuine newcomers. Newcomers unaware of Wikipedia's unique culture and the mechanics of Wikipedia editing often make mistakes or fail to respect community norms." I wonder what is the current word count of all WP guidelines? Martin Evans 15:54, 31 October 2007 (UTC).

[edit] AfD nomination of Solveig Sandnes

An editor has nominated Solveig Sandnes, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Solveig Sandnes and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 23:59, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Sound Factory (band) Notability & Neutrality

I've noticed Sound Factory band's article and it has a relevant reference, they are in the review section of Rolling Stone Magazine Online so please think about if it is the case to suspend the tags about neutrality and notability. As far as I know they are a great band trying to emerge in the US, considering that they are Italians and that the project features one of the most amazing living I guitarists I guess they are really outstanding and we just can give them the time to add awards and more press coverage to come in the future months...Also it seems they are almost a legend the italian jazz/pop music scene...

[edit] List of recordings with a prominent flanging effect

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article List of recordings with a prominent flanging effect, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.
