[edit] Wisdom teeth in human vestigiality

Hi there Disconformist, I noticed your edits to the human vestigiality page. Thanks for your discussion on the talk page. For now I've restored the section because I don't think outright removal here is the right way to go. This article should go into good detail of the subject (which is why I created it) including all examples, historical or present. Wisdom teeth were discussed by Darwin and surely many writers since then (though unfortunately I haven't been able to read any further on the subject thus far), and are an important point for discussion. For this reason I think they should be mentioned both on this article and the wisdom teeth article, which doesn't presently discuss them, though I have left a note on the to do list. We obviously need to do more research and provide more references on this subject, though I'm somewhat confused about what your source is saying. I don't see how changes in the human diet would possibly make wisdom teeth come through earlier, unless they are only advantageous to adults (perhaps they are, as a replacement for lost teeth?) Anyway, we clearly need further sources to be added, and please feel free to add your one to the references and point out what it says, but please preserve the section regardless. No worries. If you do some research be sure to add it to wisdom teeth as well. Richard001 00:49, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
