[edit] Summary

Image of Discovery Bay, taken from Gardiner, Washington, facing north. The eastern tip of Protection Island (Violet Point) is just visible on the left. The San Juan Islands are prominent across the Strait of Juan de Fuca; the large hills on the left are on Orcas Island. To the right are Cypress Island, Lummi Island, and other eminences along the Washington coast. The central gap between the island groups is Rosario Strait, where Mount Blanshard and a companion peak in BC can be seen. Photograph by Trevor Hanson, Gardiner, Washington.
