Displacement Lag

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This type of lag is revolved around first person shooters, this happens when the host of the game sees the player in a different location than where it is located on the clients screen. This is a major problem with gamers that play Halo 3. An example of this would be if you are standing very close to the edge of a wall, and shoot a bullet at another player, on your screen it would show that there are no obstructions in the way, but on the other players screen, it hits the wall or not where it was on the aimers screen. This gets a lot of snipers angry on Halo 3.

Another example of this would be on a Xbox 360 role playing game called Phantasy Star Universe. This happens when you are in battle with another player in your party. What happens is the "creeps" or "baddies" that spawn in missions appear in different locations yet share the same stats throughout the game. On your screen, your buddy seemed like he was attacking the air, but on his screen he's attacking creeps.

This should be merged and/or linked with the "Lag" section, because it is a type of lag.
