If this article is removed, then perhaps the link to it in Interface Builder should also be removed as that is what prompted me to create the article in the first place.
Maybe, rather than removing this page, it should be merged with Bundle (NEXTSTEP)? --Dsandler 05:55, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
- The correct OS X term for this concept is “package”. This is distinct from “bundle”, which refers to a file layout, regardless of whether the root of that layout is a package (i.e., treated as though it were a single file). Unfortunately, the bundle article is currently confused about this. -Ahruman 15:12, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
I've never heard of this jargon before. I have heard "package", but I'm worried that term would be confused with other uses of the package word (ie. RPM installer packages are not necessarily the same thing). I would recommend keeping the article but changing the title to "Packaged File" to differentiate between the multiple uses of this word.
I agree with User:Ahruman because a Bundle is not necessarily displayed to the user as a file in the finder (Frameworks are bundles and displayed as folders)
Here's the UTI description of all these concepts for reference...

Please explain what is meant by a "nib." Part of a quill pen, perhaps?Edison 07:40, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
