[edit] Missing numbers
[[1]] says "By the end of the Second World War there were seventeen MI Sections in the War Office (numbered 1-19 - 13 and 18 do not appear to have been used)." --Henrygb 10:01, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
Mi18 would be specialized in Prisoner of War debriefing http://209.85.135.104/search?q=cache:1z5CMURx6EYJ:www.geocities.com/nicodemis_quick/ci/credits_timeline.html+mi13+military+intelligence&hl=fr&gl=fr&ct=clnk&cd=5
and : M13 : Special Reconnaissance Section http://209.85.135.104/search?q=cache:N76ToandUhgJ:www.airamerica.com/maddow/node/1997+mi18+military+intelligence&hl=fr&gl=fr&ct=clnk&cd=6
- MI19 seems to have been Prisoner of War debriefing rather than MI18. And I would expect SIS (MI6) to know. --Henrygb 21:13, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

- Maybe, but it was still MI19. --Henrygb 22:58, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] MI5 and MI6
When exactly were MI5 and MI6 placed under the Home Office and the Foreign Office? Opera hat 10:09, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Bad sources and contentious facts
MI13 may well still be classified, or it may not exist due to plain and simple superstition... i believe that the latter proposition is more likely.
Regardless, the source which suggests the existence of MI20-25 on the guardian web page is just some loon who refers to himself as "Captain S.S DG of MI section 25". I mean seriously?! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.0.62.93 (talk) 08:22, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
I have removed the offending section. Someone blessed with more time on their hands maybe able to provide a better explanation for the missing divisions...
- There should be some reference to the missing 13...--Jack Upland (talk) 10:41, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] MI6?
This article needs to explain what MI6 was originally. Sure, it's the foreign intelligence service now, but surely that wasn't the 6th section they formed?! If other sections spied in Russia etc, what was Section 6's original brief? The current article on MI6 says spying in Russia was its forte in WW1, so how does this make sense?--Jack Upland (talk) 11:01, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Disinformation
The main source of information here seems to be the security establisment, who have no motive to tell the truth and who denied the existence of MI5 and 6 until the end of the Cold War (despite the exposes of Philby etc). Are there any other sources and if not can we put a caveat on the whole thing???--Jack Upland (talk) 11:04, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
