The 16th century Croatian writer in Dubrovnik, translated Electra from the Greek original to Croatian (not via the Italian translation), he approximated the Hellenic spirit by Christianizing it, according to the measure and spirit of his own time. As he wrote himself, he made his Electra Croatian.

He dedicated some of his translations into Croatian ("u hrvatski izlozene") to Juraj Zrinski, son of the Sziget hero Nikola Subic Zrinski. Zlataric's teacher and later a close friend was the above mentioned Dydacus Pyrrhus
