[edit] Summary

Scaled-down photo taken from the book The World Series and Highlights of Baseball, by Lamont Buchanan, 1951. It shows Joe DiMaggio making a spectacular running catch of Del Ennis' fly to deep right center in Game 2 of the 1950 World Series at Shibe Park in Philadelphia. The word "spectacular" was used in the Cohen-Neft-Johnson-Deutsch book, The World Series, containing play-by-play of every Series through the mid-1970s. Buchanan's own prose for this photo was, "The Phils thought they might have something here on a towering drive by potent Del Ennis almost to the 400-ft. mark at Shibe Park, but Joe DiMaggio flagged the ball down after a hard run. This was the second game, and in the tenth inning Joe D's homer won for the Bombers."
