Dilys Rose

Dilys Rose is a widely travelled Scottish poet, librettist and writer of fiction, born in Glasgow but now based in Edinburgh, where she studied Philosophy at the university.
Rose is the author of five acclaimed volumes of short stories, a novel Pest Maiden which was nominated for the IMPAQ prize, and four collections of poetry, one for children. Her work has won numerous awards, including the prestigious Macallan Short Story prize in 1991, and she has held a number of fellowships in Scotland and abroad. She was a UNESCO World City of Literature visiting writer in Australia in 2006, and in 2007 co-edited with Robert Alan Jamieson a volume of new international writing from Edinburgh, entitled V.
Since 2001, Dilys Rose has been a key figure in the development of Creative Writing at the University of Edinburgh.
