A digital edition is an interactive, online experience that looks and 'feels' like the print medium whilst utilizing all the 'rich' content only available in the online medium. Many such examples exist. Technologies fall into two categories: Reader-based or Browser-based. The former requires the download of an application and subsequent download of digital edition titles. The latter requires no download, is normally Flash-based and tends to provide more scope for interactivity given its online bias. Digital editions are also known as digital magazines, ezines and emags.
