Dies said that Cabinet members and Communists had attempted To Stifle and discredit His committee and its inquiry. Dies accused President Roosevelt, the Justice Department, and the WPA of ignoring a Congressional request that his committee be staffed with stenographers, investigators and attorneys from the executive departments.
