Dieter Matthaei
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dieter Matthaei (born February 1, 1949) is a German radiologist.
Matthaei studied physics and medicine at the universities of Berlin and Göttingen. In 1977, he received his doctorate from the Georg-August University of Göttingen. He was from 1983 to 1987 a research associate at the Max-Planck-Institut für biophysikalische Chemie in Göttingen and is now medical specialist for internal medicine in Göttingen.
He was a member of the research team of Jens Frahm and Axel Haase who invented the FLASH MRI (fast low angle shot) technique for rapid magnetic resonance imaging (German Patent Application P 35 04 734.8, 12 Februar 1985). It allowed for a revolutionary breakthrough in the use of MRI for diagnostic imaging.
He is the founder and editor of MAGMA.
