[edit] MP

Hi, it looks like you're in the middle of a rather long and complex edit of the MP article. I was going to help by tabulating the borouhgs and suggesting one or two minor changes, but I'll cancel my edits otherwise I'll conflict with your changes and I don't want you to lose your work. Let me know when you're having a break and I'll look again. There's def a way of improving the sub-headings, but I won't do anything for now. Regards Escaper7 15:30, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

Tks for the message, I'll have a look then tell me what you think.Escaper7 15:44, 6 September 2006 (UTC)
Me again, some changes and a few minor problems. Wikilinking, I've removed the rather excessive amount of Wikilinks which had practically turned a whole sub-section red. I don't think anyone is seriously going to write an article on the antiques unit or computer unit and the point of the red links is to encourage people to start articles. Also, as the Wiki style book says, you can simply provide too many links making it difficult to follow an article, but it's always better to have too many than too few.
  • Sub headings, I've formatted these correctly for all the directorates although you've written there are 10, and I can only see nine. The main reason as you probably know is that each level of sub-header gets added to the contents box - crucial on a long article - and a lot less eye strain for regular editors.
  • I've tweaked some of the words - you may remember me saying on the talk page for MPS a few weeks back that I wanted to make it less plod-speak and more encyclopedic. No offence I hope. As for the map, I've moved the list of boros to the left, but that's taken away the number on the RH column. To be honest, I'd ditch the map because it's not interactive, and you can go to each individual boro via the wikilink in the list below. Perhaps think about removing the repetition of 'BOCU' after each boro - it's a bit repetitious etc. Sorry for the essay, and before you ask, yes I do have extensive uniformed experience in the emergency services, although I don't work directly in that field now. Cheers. Escaper7 17:01, 6 September 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply - it is a good form of research and does focus your mind. I've just started a really long article: Fire Service in the UK, and it becomes very absorbing. There's no real wrong way of doing things in Wiki, because someone will always jump in and correct any errors. Good luck with the new position. Escaper7 17:38, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Crime directorates

Pls can you look at this again - you say there are 10, only nine are listed.--Escaper7 10:30, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Transfer

Just read you are transferring to the MPS soon. Welcome to the met :) If there's anything you'd like to know from a front-line perspective, as opposed to those glossy brochures, let me know and I'll try to help! Sapient 09:56, 23 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] BTP - Power & Status of officer

My amendments are based on PNLD. I do later refer to the expanded jurisdiction under new legislation. i am confident it is an accurate summary. --MJB 18:13, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I note your comments ref a BTP colleague - I am currently sitting in a BTP control room. A quiet sunday shift! --MJB 19:25, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
