"Diamonds on My Neck" is the first single to be released from Smitty's forthcoming debut album, Life of a Troubled Child. The single was released in 2005 to moderate success, charting at #89 on the Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.[citation needed] The album was expected to drop shortly after the single but was pushed back.
The song samples the hook from The Notorious B.I.G.'s song "Dangerous MC's" and was produced by Swizz Beatz. A remix featuring Lil' Wayne and Twista has also been released, and another remix by Houston rapper Short Dawg was also released.
