[edit] Transtar
The Transtar slate of 24-hour music networks is managed by Dial Global and owned by Westwood One. They include:
- Adult Rock and Roll (classic rock)
- America's Best Music (adult standards)
- Bright AC (hot adult contemporary)
- Hot Country (current country music hits)
- Mainstream Country (includes syndicated Young and Verna morning show, a.k.a. "Your Kind of Country, The Best of the New and Gold")
- Kool Gold (oldies formerly known as "The Oldies Channel")
- Hits Now! (Contemporary hit radio) (see below)
- S.A.M.: Simply About Music (a jockless variety hits format that predates Dial Global's acquisition of the rights to Jack FM)
[edit] Waitt networks
Dial Global's parent company purchased Waitt Radio Networks in April 2008. Due to some duplicity, some of the Waitt networks will be merged with their Transtar counterparts in the coming months.
The Waitt networks are:
- "Country Today"
- "Country Classics"
- "Oldies Plus"
- "Genuine Classic Rock"
- "AC Active" (hot adult contemporary)
- "AC Pure" (mainstream adult contemporary)
- "Modern Rock"
- "Bob FM"
- "The Lounge" (adult standards)
[edit] New formats introduced by Dial Global
- Jack FM (Variety hits)
- KPIG (simulcast of the Freedom, California based superstation, a broad sweeping format that includes Americana music, deep cut classic rock, and alternative country)
The "Hits Now!," Jack FM and KPIG formats are new to Dial Global in 2008. From 2007 to 2008, a format known as "Rhythm Mix AC" aired in Hits Now!'s slot; Rhythm Mix AC was a rhythmic adult contemporary format inspired by formats such as MOViN. Prior to 2007, the slot was held by a soft adult contemporary music format, which had originated with Transtar.
The syndicated Jack FM format was heard on ABC Radio prior to being acquired by Dial Global.
