Dhoon Glen railway station

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dhoon Glen Station lies at the top of the steep glen leading to a secluded rocky beach; the station lies on a bend in the formation of both the road and railway, and boasts its own tiny cafe which has been there for many years, latterly known as "Jean's Place" among other titles. There is a large unsurfaced car park adjacent to the station which markes the site of the vast Dhoon Glen Hotel which was destroyed by fire in 1917 and never replaced. The old station shelter, separate from the cafe (which houses passenger toilet facelities beneath it) was replaced in 1985 with a more modern structure.
