[edit] History

Historically, the town of Dhoke Nawan Loke is famous due to the ancient ruins of the old civilization on Tiba. No archaeological surveys have been performed, though the village ruins are thousands of years old. Some local inhabitants participated in the Battle of Chillianwala in 1849.

[edit] People

Dhoke Nawan Loke has a population of around 5,000 with an 80% literacy rate. The main castes in Dhoke Nawan Loke are Sahi, Gondal, Arain, and Gujjar. The most common industries are agricultural and services-related. After 1995, most of the younger people of this town preferred to travel abroad as economic migrants, resulting in around 15% of the natives under 35 years of age now residing in Europe and North America.

[edit] Economy

The migration of a large portion of the population changed the entire local economy; foreign capital now accounts for around 90% of the total income of the town. This has resulted in higher prices for real estate and agricultural property. The price of one acre of purely agricultural land has increased to around 800,000 RS (about $16,000 USD per acre). Non-agricultural properties in real estate have also risen to an estimated $60,000 USD.
