Hiya. I've reintroduced the line saying Trujillo had a long association with Escobar on Trujillo's page. I've presented an argument on the talk page that this is consistent with wiki policies on W:PSTS and that to start independently evaluating the way National Catholic Reporter substantiates it's own claims seems to contravene W:NOR. Certainly, if you know of any primary or secondary sources (that meet wikipedia's standards of reliability) which contest Allen's explicit claim that they had a long association, then they would be great to have in the article as well. Given the way their association had an significant place in many of the newspaper obituaries and broadcast coverage of Trujillo's death (e.g. Australian Broadcasting Corporation Radio National - "The Religion Report"), it seems important that the wikipedia article at least mention it, albeit in a non-sensational way. Unless one can find reputable sources that suggest they didn't have a long association, it seems misleading at this stage to introduce hedges around the claim (i.e. "It has been claimed by John Allen that..."). If you want to work together to find an array of secondary sources that deal with Trujillo's association with Escobar so we can flesh out who claims what and the article comprehensively surveys academic and journalistic research on their association, I am more than happy to collaborate. This, however, would increase the proportion of the article that deals with their association. Calypygian (talk) 19:24, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
