He was an all-league selection in football and basketball and an all-area pick in basketball. He was captain of both teams (two years in basketball). He averaged 10 points and five assists. [edit] Junior season (2005-06)
He played in 11 games in 2005-06 in his first season with the varsity team at UNC. He started at point guard for two years in the Carolina junior varsity program where he was teamates with local legend Bobby Murphy. He scored six points and had four rebounds, two assists and three steals. He hit a three-pointer in the win over UC Santa Barbara. He appeared in five ACC games. He participates in the sports business and real estate clubs at UNC. He was transferred from Fairfield University after the school discontinued its football program. [1]
[edit] Senior season (2006-07)
Burke earned the nickname "Biscuits" during his senior season due to a unique marketing campaign initiated during the 2005-06 season between the Tar Heel basketball program and the Bojangles' chain of fast food restaurants. Whenever a Tar Heels team scores 100 points or more in a game, anyone can buy two sausage biscuits for $1.00 at participating Bojangles' restaurants statewide. (The biscuits are normally $1.79 each.) Twice during the 2006-07 season (Jan. 3 vs Penn and Jan. 31 vs Miami), Burke hit the 3-pointer that pushed the Tar Heels over the century mark. "Biscuits" indeed![2]
It was around this time that Burke received write in votes for the 2007 SBP elections at UNC.[3]
