[edit] TELEPHONY FIELD COMMUNICATIONS

This article was written to provide switchboard programmers a central place to find configurations. We encourage anyone with knowledge about any switchboard to post configs, or knowledge here.

[edit] REDCOM IGX

The REDCOM IGX Gateway Exchange is a field-proven platform for private network switching. The IGX can be configured for a range of applications from large permanently installed systems to portable tactical packages. The REDCOM IGX is primarily found in the DTC, but can also work as a single shelf. This is due to the fact, that each shelf has its own processor, located in the Modular Switching Unit (MSU.). A single IGX shelf has the capability to run up to 96 POTS (Plain Old Telephone System) phones at one time, using a Dynamic Line card. In addition, you can hook up 4 ISDN circuts per card installed on the switch. Being that ISDN is the most useless thing in the world, this is never done.

For communicating to other switches, the IGX normally has one, to two T-1 cards installed, which give 24 usable channels, operating at a total of 1.544 mbps.

[edit] REDCOM HDX

The HDX is a high density off-the-shelf switching solution that builds upon the capabilities of the IGX and MDX•I, but with increased capacity for larger applications. The HDX also has higher densities especially important for digital tandem applications.

The HDX can be configured for either private or public network switching applications, supporting a large number of international digital and analog interfaces and signaling protocols. With the REDCOM HDX, you get true interoperability between interfaces of all types, plus the advanced features you need in both public and private network environments.

Distributed control design provides superior flexibility and reliability. Each shelf has its own (optional redundant) microprocessor control, allowing it to work as a complete stand-alone system. Shelves also can be stacked to make systems with many thousands of traffic-engineered ports. All of HDX’s modular shelves are identical, and the boards are hot swappable. Up to 32 shelves can be "stacked" for ultimate flexibility in system configuration.

[edit] REDCOM SLICE

The SLICE™ is a REDCOM switch in a 1U (1.75 in./4.45 cm) rack-mountable package, ideal for small stand-alone or remote applications. The SLICE™ has the HDX’s power, capability, and simplicity in a self-contained, rack-mountable package. With the addition of the SLICE™ to the REDCOM product line, you can service a full spectrum of switching system sizes. A single 1U unit provides 24 analog line circuits, 4 BRI-S line circuits and 2 digital spans (E1/T1). It can operate as a self-contained, fully capable telephone switching unit. It has both domestic and international gateway capabilities. The SLICE™ supports public, private, emergency response applications and various military applications.
