Talk:Devilbunnies

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I've moved the following material here because it's non-encyclopedic. I think an article about the shared world would be interesting (I certainly found the external link amusing), but not one about writing in the shared world, and that is what this article looked like.

Ground rules? That would be ground rules for playing in the shared world? This isn't wikistories, and original research/work isn't generally considered encyclopedic.

Factions would be who the people writing should write about? Also not encyclopedic for the same reasons.

I'm not sure what the purpose of apocrypha is.

[edit] Ground rules

[edit] Factions

Hunters of the Cunning Hare (Ft. Roger Williams, RI) This faction began in the late 17th century with the founding of Rhode Island. In the mid-20th Century, it merged with the Army of Fudd, but maintained its own unique culture of political warfare against The Evil That Fluffs. The HOTCH deactivated in the late 20th Century, but recently re-activated when a local warren began experimenting with devilbunny genetics and produced a varient of the human-lagomorphing virus (HLV).

[edit] Apocrypha

Re. Ground rules: fair enough. Re. Factions: actually, this is intended to be a brief list of the major groups that exist in this shared universe, serving a similar purpose to stuff like character listings in articles on other fictional universes. I'm not sure why this would be inappropriate, although I didn't intend for it to go into as fine a level of detail as the above quote. Calair
  • Hmm. I didn't notice who'd added what. But as for appropriateness, I'm going to hold up the WikiPotter and everything that has flowed from that series of kid's fantasy novels (entertaining as all heck, but still juvenile fiction) here. I would guess that there's a solid 500 pages, minimum, (more likely over 1,000) of Potter-mania, 99% of which will be of no interest at all in 4-5 years when the last book has been published. (I don't expect the movies to go 7 episodes; I think they'll die with the last book in the series.) Because Wikipedia is so easy to add to, it's amazingly easy to go overboard. Major characters is certainly okay, though, even by my deletionist standards. Go ahead and put it back, with what you think of as major characters, and we'll see where we go from there.
And as I said above, it certainly looks like an interesting article on a very strange shared world. - Kenwarren 02:30, Jul 29, 2004 (UTC)
* Wasn't intending to list characters - dozens of people have been writing this for more than a decade now, and deciding whose creations make the cut as 'major' would open me up to a great big world of hurt. Condensing it to the factions keeps it reasonably manageable. Calair
