[edit] DeSoto, not De Soto

I have switched the De Soto (automobile) article to DeSoto (automobile). I've always been bothered by the listings for DeSoto being under De Soto, and I moved the main article today. My reasons for doing this are:

  • The National DeSoto Club uses the DeSoto spelling, not De Soto.
  • The Standard catalog of cars series uses DeSoto as well.
  • Collectible Automobile also the non-spaced version.
  • Chrysler specs and advertisements of the 1940s and 1950s for the car also use the non-spaced version in most cases.

Hope that this doesn't trample on any toes or hurts feelings, but to me, it just makes sense to have the article in step with those who follow the marque. Stude62 01:14, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hideaway

I always thought the '37 Cord 812 had the first hidden headlites. Who's right? Trekphiler 07:52, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

I referenced the Hidden_headlamps article, the Cord 810 had hand-cranked pop-ups, the DeSoto had the 1st powered ones. I added "powered" and fixed the wikilink, the headlight article must've changed its sections. GoTeamVenture (talk) 23:40, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:DeSoto turco.gif

Image:DeSoto turco.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Galleries

I combined the pics under the spanned years using the gallery format. The pics are smaller, but it eliminates a lot of white space and pics overlapping multiple section breaks. What do you think?? Could the gallery format be used for the many car articles that are experiencing this same problem. OR, we can revert this change and try to re-balance the pics.
