Shocking pink dragon millipede (Desmoxytes purposea) is a spiny and toxic millipede aptly named for its shocking pink color. Since the millipede lives out in the open on the ground, its only protection from predators is its color. The shocking pink dragon millipede was named third in the top ten species in 2008 by the International Institute for Species Exploration[1].
