Desert War is a champion Australian Thoroughbred gelding who gained a cult following for providing punters with massive returns, his front running style, and huge frame, weighing in at over 600kg.
Trained by Gai Waterhouse, he was a multiple Group 1 winner in Sydney and Melbourne. Arguably his greatest achievement was winning the Epsom Handicap back to back in 2004 and 2005, before finishing a close second to Sydney star Racing to Win in 2006.
His final race was the 2008 Queen Elizabeth Stakes, before he retired.
