Derana is a Sri Lankan Free-to-air Television channel which was launched in 2005. It airs popular TV programmes like The Iraj Show hosted by Sri Lankan music Producer Iraj Weerarathne and its news feature Ada Derana. It is also popular for its reality tv programs such as Derana Real Leader, Derana Dream Star & Derana Little Star. According to independent research organisations, Derana is the most popular free-to-air network among families with highest purchasing power in Sri Lanka.
Ada Derana, the news service of Derana entered into a partnership with Dialog Telekom, the largest mobile phone operator in Sri Lanka in late 2007 to send breaking news to all the subscribers of Dialog mobile users as Short Text Messages (SMS).
It is believed that Derana is going to launch its radio channel soon and it's currently carrying out a test transmission in Colombo on FM 94.5.
