Atlántico (English: Atlantico) is a department of Colombia. Its capital is Barranquilla.
It is the third smallest of the country's departments, after San Andrés y Providencia and Quindío, with an extension of 3,388 km² (1,308 sq mi). It has a population of 2,272,170, which makes it one of the most densely populated departments, with 670.65 inhabitants per km² (1737.1 inh./sq mi).
The department of Atlántico is located in northern Colombia by the Caribbean sea to its north, the Bolivar Department and to the east with the Magdalena Department, separated by the Magdalena River.
