[edit] Split?
into Dusky Grouse (Dendragapus obscurus) and Sooty Grouse (D. fuliginosus). Present page remains genus page as is; basically redistribute sources and some content. Dysmorodrepanis 23:38, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
- Support I was going to propose this when I had more time. Walter Siegmund (talk) 02:56, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
- Support; I guess we should follow the AOU on this one, even though their decision is likely premature (the study the decision is based on is flawed, as it does not consider the northern half the genus' range, where intergradation could well occur as their ranges are not separated). But that's a matter for the AOU to decide, not Wikipedia. - MPF 11:17, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
- Support; These are two different species now!! --HoopoeBaijiKite 23:28, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
- Support; Two completely different species- how does this move forward? Rufous-crowned Sparrow 01:51, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Split done
I split 'em, please check for errors. Speciate (talk) 06:23, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Pics
There's a whole stack of good public domain Dusky Grouse pics at the Yellowstone NP site here; I've uploaded a couple of pics of displaying males to commons (so far the only commons pics of Dusky as opposed to Sooty). Might be worth uploading more. - MPF 11:17, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
