[edit] Portal creation
Hey, I began this portal and will maintain it for now. Please send me ideas/suggestions to let me know what you think. - Dozenist talk 19:29, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
- Also, compared to associated topics (such as Medicine), dentistry is a subject that has few editors and consequently few article and picture contributions. Thus, I am considering updating the Selected Article and Selected Picture every month, instead of weekly. Until there are more active contributors, I think a slower update on those two sections would be appropriate. Otherwise, we would go through all the material really quickly. Smaller sections, such as Did you know? and Things You Can Do, can be updated weekly. Any comments? - Dozenist talk 21:56, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
- This strikes me as reasonable (I am not affiliated with WP:Dentistry) --Zantastik talk 22:15, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
- Yep. Sounds good. · j e r s y k o talk · 02:35, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, there was a new suggestion in the Peer Review which I found interesting. It may be possible to have a few selected articles and pictures already picked out, and upon loading the Portal page, the selected article and picture would be picked randomly. That may be the route to pursue, particular for one big reason. There are such few dental editors, and that means new content is not produced as quickly. That way, we do not have to worry if little content has been produced in a given time. We would already have a bank of selected articles and pictures, and we would just add to that bank as we get more content. To figure out how to that is a bit daunting, but I am now thinking that maybe we would want to pursue this. - Dozenist talk 02:53, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

- You should figure out how to do the rotation / random picking. It's a good idea. · j e r s y k o talk · 02:55, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
