From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation (DOCS) provides education to dental professionals on the subjects of dental conscious sedation and emergency medicine. The group also consists of a membership of 3400 dentists who provide these services to patients. Products including emergency medical supplies, monitoring equipment and others are also sold.

The organization has been quoted in the New York Times as well as the Wall Street Journal with regards to sedation dentistry and its use by general dentists.

The organization was founded in 2000 by a group of dentists and dental hygienists including President Michael Silverman, DMD. Originally located in Pennsylvania, the company moved to Seattle in 2006. Seminars are held throughout the US and Canada.

The DOCS faculty consists of well known educators such as Anthony Feck, DMD and Les Fang, MD. They speak frequently at large dental meetings both nationally and internationally as well as to dental boards who are in the regulations development process.

DOCS also has a research arm called the Oral Sedation Research Fund that provides grants to those wishing to study the safety and efficacy of oral sedation and its components. The Fund is completely supported by donations.
