Denny Cordell Fillies Stakes
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Denny Cordell Fillies Stakes is a Group 3 flat horse race in the Republic of Ireland for three-year-old and above thoroughbred fillies and mares. It is run over a distance of 1 mile 1 furlong and 100 yards (1,902 m) at Gowran Park Racecourse in early October.
It is named in memory of Denny Cordell (1943-1995), a British record producer and later a racehorse trainer and breeder in Ireland.
The race was promoted to Group 3 status in 2006, before which it was run at Listed level. It has previously taken place in September (1996-99), October (2000-03) and August (2004-06).
