Dennis Hopson

Dennis Hopson (born April 22, 1965 in Toledo, Ohio) is an American former professional basketball player.

A 6'5" small forward, Hopson was made the third selection in the 1987 NBA Draft by the New Jersey Nets but did not live up to the organization's expectations after playing three seasons with them. However, he did average over 15 points per game in his last season with the team. He also played briefly for the Chicago Bulls and the Sacramento Kings. His last NBA game was in the 1991-92 season.

He retired in 2000, playing out his professional career for Maccabi Qiryat Motzkin of the Israeli basketball league. Before, he played in Zaragoza (Spain) and with the Philippine Basketball Association.[1]

He played at Ohio State University and is the school's all-time leading scorer. He was the head coach of the ABA's Toledo Royal Knights until the team folded in December 2006. He is now an assistant coach at Northwood University in West Palm Beach, Florida, serving under legend Rollie Massimino.
