[edit] Milošević's heirs!

Democratic Party of Serbia of current Serbian prime minister Koštunica, is an integral part of anti-Western, totalitaristic block in Serbian politics and parliament, together with Milošević's Socialist Party of Serbia, and Serbian Radical Party, the two former regime parties. Koštunica and his party have struggled since Serbia's democratic revolution to establish continuity with Milošević's work and times.

Initially portayed as democrat, Koštunica has turned out to be an anti-Western and anti-modernisation totalitarist.

[edit] Kostunica is definitely a democrat

Just because Kostunica doesn't agree with some leaders about giving away 15% of his homeland, that does not make him a nationalist or anti-democrat. No minority is in danger of Mr. Kostunica's politics. It is just about keeping Serbia in a bad light to achieve to make Kosovo an albanian state. That is deeply unjust and Kostunica is fighting that. In few countries minorities have so many rights as they do have in Serbia. For instance, in Germany there are no signs in Turkish language (in Berlin there are many Turks), no schools in minority native languages, no member of a minority can stay away from work (without taking vacation) on a holiday of his native country. Serbia, and therefore Kostunica, is pressured to give rights to minorities that the countries which pressure him are not ready to grant to their own minorites by themselves. Kostunica is fighting with democratic means to protect the borders of his country.

What you say may be true, but indeed Kostunitza has uncloaked his somewhat hidden similarities with the socialists & the radicals and is slowly veering to the right (I don't even think his party is near the center at all any more). DSS is the only party that (next to SPS and SRS) denied genocide in Bosnia and atrocities against Muslims (and Croats and Albanians). Kostunica never wanted to cooperate with the Hague (not even deliver Slobodan Milosevic to ICTY) and he dreamed of Greater Serbia in the early 1990s. AND he is copying Slobodan Milosevic in his speeches, aligning on nationalism to attain votes. Besides, his demagogic (autocratic) extreme conservative (not to say isolationist) side is evident. Kostunica's government also re-instated the sick "national pride" and re-radicalized the Serbian population. --PaxEquilibrium 22:24, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Ideological label

I disagree with the claim that the DSS is national conservativism they are more likely to fall under cultural conservativism.

..some would even deem them (parts of 'em) ultra-nationalist and even irredentist. --PaxEquilibrium 22:17, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:DSSLogo.gif

Image:DSSLogo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 22:53, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Conservative?

The DPS is labeled as "conservative".

However, it was excluded from the articles conservative political parties and conservatism in Serbia (the Serbian Renewal Movement was also excluded), with the argument that "Democratic Party of Serbia is not a conservative but a nationalist center-right party".--81.84.199.19 00:36, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
