  • 1940 - The Queen Anne pier in Lewes was all but destroyed by wind and snow.
  • 2003 - During an unusually severe cold wave, travelers were warned to call ahead to the Cape May−Lewes Ferry operations center because of ice 500 yards out from the Lewes terminal and over a mile of ice in the Cape May Canal.
