- 1801 - State Senator John Bird of New Castle and Representative John C. Brush of Odessa were expelled from the General Assembly; the first because he was involved with naval contracts; the second because he was a preacher.
- 1949 - Spurred on by rampant vandalism on Pea Patch Island, a group of twenty people met in the Hotel Du Pont and organized the Fort Delaware Society.
- 2005 - To ward off overdevelopment, the State of Delaware announced the acquisition of seven parcels of prime Sussex County woodland, stretching from Greenwood to Millsboro.
