- 1800 - Speaking before the General Assembly, Governor Richard Bassett condemned the practice of dueling as unchristian.
- 1888 - Elijah B. Register, one of the last survivors of the British bombardment of Lewes in 1813, died.
- 1939 - The west bound 395-ton freighter SS Waukegan rammed and destroyed the thirteen year old St. Georges Bridge on the C & D Canal.
- 1995 - The 138th General Assembly met after two new wings had been added to the eastern side of Legislative Hall.
