Delectable Mountains

Delectable Mountains are the mountains covered with sheep in the Pilgrim's Progress, which Christian sees afar from the Palace Beautiful and from the peak of which he obtains a view of the Celestial City. They are said to have been inspired by the chalk hills of North Eastern Hertfordshire, the start of the Chilterns, as seen from the great clay plain of Bedfordshire below.
