[edit] Early career in Serbia

His playing career started in 1988 at Radnički Niš, then in 1991 he moved to Red Star Belgrade, with whom he played until 1994.

[edit] Spain

In 1995 he was signed by Spanish giants Real Madrid, where he was not able to succeed, being eventually loaned to Sevilla in 1996 and to Racing de Santander in 1997.

[edit] Arriving in Brazil

In 1997 he was signed by Vitória, starting then his well-succeeded Brazilian career. He stayed at this club until 1999 .

[edit] Brazil second time

1999 he moved to Venezia but failed to succeed, quickly returning to Brazil, where he joined Flamengo. At Flamengo his skills helped the club win 2 Campeonato Carioca titles, in 2000 and 2001. His free kick goal in the final in 2001 allowed Flamengo to win its third title in a row against arch-rivals Vasco. In 2002 he moved to Vasco, where he stayed until 2004. He played for a short time at Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua within this period. In 2004 and in 2005 he won the Brazilian Silver Ball as one of the best midfilders in the Brazilian National League. He left Vasco in 2004 and joined Al-Ittihad from Saudi Arabia in 2005 but didn't stay long as he failed to settle there.

[edit] Brazil third time

From December 2005, on he played at Fluminense from Rio de Janeiro. He plays at Santos after signing a short term deal from Goiás until the end of the 2007 season.

[edit] The skills

It has been said that, being him Brazilian, he would have made it to the national team. His failure to have been been picked many times to Serbia's national team is due to him playing in South America and being out of sight and mind. In 2006, for the World Cup in Germany, there was a campaign in Serbia to include him in the team, but nothing came of it and he was not picked. As Serb coach Ilija Petkovic thought he would disrupt the team's harmony, as he has a reputation of having a very loud personality. In 2006 while playing for Fluminense, he scored an Olympic goal against Grêmio. In the next game he scored another Olympic goal, but the ball hit the hand of a player from Fluminense and entered the goal; nonetheless the officials counted it as one.
