[edit] Origin of Dun or Doon

Is the word "Dun" (Doon) truly indigenous to India from before the British Raj, or is this an Anglo-Indian word likening valleys between the Siwalik Hills and Lesser Himalaya to the Doon Valley of southwestern Scotland? Perhaps they share the characteristics of being fairly open valleys surrounded by low mountains. LADave 10:19, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
