Battle of Bazentin Ridge 14 -17 July: The Deccan horse drawn up in ranks in the Carnoy Valley waiting for the opportunity to attack. It was intended that cavalry forces should take over the advance after the infantry had breached the defences but their opportunity never occurred during months of battle.
