Talk:Debaser (band)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Speedy deletion of this should not take place because Debaser meets the notability standard as defined by Wikipedia at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability_%28music%29.

Debaser meets two of the reqirements, of which only one is required to justify its inclusion on Wikipedia.

Music notability criteria 1 states: "A musician or ensemble (note that this includes a band, singer, rapper, orchestra, hip hop crew, DJ, musical theatre group, etc.) is notable if it meets any one of the following criteria: 1. It has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent from the musician/ensemble itself and reliable."

Debaser has been the subject of several non-trivial published works, in the form of newspaper articles from several reliable sources: The Toronto Star (Monday June 13, 2005: NXNE review), Now Magazine (http://www.nowtoronto.com/issues/2006-06-08/music_feature9.php, http://www.nowtoronto.com/issues/2006-10-19/music_livereviews.php), The Varsity (http://www.thevarsity.ca/media/storage/paper285/news/2005/11/24/ArtsCulture/Theyre.Singing.Our.Song-1113569-page3.shtml?norewrite200612101711&sourcedomain=www.thevarsity.ca), The Ontarion (Guelph newspaper, no online edition, but feature appeared in their April 2006 edition), Eye Magazine (http://www.eye.net/eye/issue/issue_08.24.06/city/myapt.php), and Wavelength's Web Zine (http://www.wavelengthtoronto.com/article.php?p=391).

The band has also toured extensively through Canada, as noted in the Wavelength feature.

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Debasertheband.jpg

Image:Debasertheband.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
