Debutante Stakes

The Debutante Stakes is a Group 2 flat horse race in the Republic of Ireland for two-year-old thoroughbred fillies. It is run over a distance of 7 furlongs (1,408 metres) at the Curragh in August.
Before 1991 the race was run at Phoenix Park, since when it has been run at both the Curragh (1991-93, 2000-05, 2007) and Leopardstown (1994-99, 2006). In 1991 the race was relegated from Group 3 to Listed class, regaining its former status in 2001 and rising to Group 2 level in 2004. The distance was increased from 6 furlongs (1,207 metres) to its present 7 furlongs in 1994.
