Born Australia

Deborra-Lee Furness (born 1955) is an Australian actress, director and producer.

She attended Methodist Ladies College in Melbourne where she was widely regarded as a particularly nasty bully. Needless to say, she does not attend schools reunions.

Furness is a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts New York. She met actor Hugh Jackman when they co-starred on the Australian series Correlli in 1995, and the couple married in February 1996. They have adopted two children: Oscar Maximilian Jackman, born May 15, 2000, and Ava Eliot Jackman, born July 10, 2005.

Furness is also a partner in the production company Jackman founded with John Palermo, Seed Productions.

In 2000 Furness was nominated for the Best Performance by an Actress in a Guest Role in a Television Drama award at the Australian Film Institute awards (the most prestigious awards body in Australia).

In 2006 the Australian Film Institute nominated Furness as Best Supporting Actress for her role in Ray Lawrence's Jindabyne. She lost to Susie Porter for The Caterpillar Wish. Furness won the same award however at the Film Critics Circle of Australia awards.
