Deb Placey

Deb Placey (née Kaufman) (born on St. Patrick's Day in 1966) is the New York Islanders' ice-level reporter on the team's television games which air over MSG Plus and its sister network MSG. In addition to her role on Islander broadcasts, Placey on occasion hosts MSG, NY on the MSG network as well as Hockey Night Live, also on the MSG Network.

Since 2004, Placey has been an anchor and reporter for WNBC-TV, the local New York NBC affiliate covering sports on the evening news. Prior to joining MSG in the mid-1990s, she was seen on ESPN2 during the first months that it was on the air between October 1993 and mid-1995.

Her earlier TV anchor work includes stops in 4 local markets; WSIL-TV in Marion, Illinois. KWWL-TV in Waterloo, Iowa. WPRI-TV in Providence, RI. WSVN-TV in Miami, Florida.

Born and bred in St. Louis Missouri, Deb is married to Edward Placey, an ESPN Senior Coordinating Producer. They have 2 daughters Madeline & Caroline...as well as 2 beagles- one affectionately named "Lute" after Arizona's Head Basketball Coach Lute Olson, Placey's alma mater... and another named "Lucky."

The popular Placey was given the moniker "Islander Deb" by her Long Island based fans.
