William I of Scotland (b. c. 1142; d. 1214), commonly called today William the Lion, and known in contemporary Gaelic as Uilleam Garbh (English: "William the Rough"),[2] was briefly Earl of Northumbria (1153-1157) and long-time King of Scots (1165-1214).
