Talk:Death of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The following wording in the opening text is not factual:

"His death sparked great controversy surrounding the validity of his claims. Supporters have vigorously defended against these controversies while opponents have used them to point to various predictions and prophesies they say invalidate his rank and station."

To begins with the controversy regarding Mirza Ghluam Ahmad's claims was raging even prior to his death, and his death was not the sole cause of the same; which the opening line seems to imply - so it must be reworded. Similarly invlaidation of rank and station as a direct consequence of his death is too specifc without a particluar citation or further explanation. Furthermore "rank" and "stations" as paticualr terms remain undefined and hence could potentially be misleading to some one not fully conversant with all of his claims. I think the language can be simplified while conveying clearly why his death has come be a point of debate.

I propose:

"while his claims sparked great controversy during his lifetime between his supporters and detractors, a new issue was started by his critics after his death. Critics allege that the circumstances and timing of his death invalidate some of the predictions made by him, and hence cast serious doubt on his truthfulness and claims. His supporters however claim that both the manner and timing of his death were in accordance with all of his relevent predictions, and hence reaffirm his truthfulness and claims."

[edit] Why were Ahmadiyya Accounts of the Death in the Article

In response to the question posed by VirtualEye in his edit deleting some text: The account of people's reaction to Ahmad's death from the Ahmadiyya account was initially put in the article by an anti-ahmadi editor as it selectively mentioned ONLY the dancing in the streets. To restore NPOV, the other reactions from the SAME account were also included in the article. After the full story was included, the whole text (including the selective anti-ahmadi parts)has now been deleted. Sufaid 06:39, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Ahmad.png

Image:Ahmad.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Historical era

The Intro to this article needs to state the particular historical time period that pertains to its subject matter. This information is not supplied anywhere in the opening paragraphs, so I just stopped reading (though I did spot birth & death years in the Categories). Cgingold (talk) 15:53, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
