Death poem by Kuroki Hiroshi, a Japanese soldier who died in a submarine accident on September 7 1944.

Text reads 「国を思い死ぬに死なれぬ益良雄が 友々よびつ死してゆくらん」

Kuni wo omoi shinu ni shi narenu masurao ga, tomodomo yobitsu shi shite yukuran

Thinking of my country, I die though I am not used to death, a successful hero, who does not go into death calling for his friends.
