Deans Community High School

Deans Community High School is a secondary level school, in Deans, Livingston, Scotland. The School opened in 1978.

The feeder primary schools are Deans Primary, Carmondean Primary and Meldrum Primary.

Deans has over 800 pupils and is made up of mixed sexes. The head is Mrs Cook, who joined the school in 2007. She is not to be confused with the history teacher of the same name.

A new school building is currently being built on the grounds of the old sports fields. When the new building is finished the old building will be knocked down, and the new sports fields built on the old school site. The construction work is being carried out by Dawn Construction.

[edit] HMIE Inspection

In 2005, HMIE undertook an inspection of the school.[1] The inspection showed that the school had made significant progress since the last inspection, improving in every section. it also stated that "The school and education authority had made good progress in responding to the points for action in the inspection report. The school had put very high priority on developing approaches to raise attainment and there was evidence of continued improvement."
