  • H = House, for House Committees
  • S = Senate, for Senate Committees
  • C = Congress, for Joint Committees

{{{2}}} = Committee type:

  • ST = Standing Committees
  • SL = Select Committeees
  • JT = Joint Committees
  • PS = Permanent Select (currently applies only to the House Intelligence Committees)
  • TS = Temporary Select (infrequent)
  • SS = Special Select (infrequent)
  • JS = Joint Select (infrequent)
  • JSP = Joint Special (infrequent)

{{{3}}} = Connecting words:

  • "on" and "to" are the most common as in Committee on ABC or Committee to Investigate XYZ.
  • For "Committee on the" use "ot" (lowercase).

{{{4}}} = Committee short title:

  • e.g. Rules, Ethics, Energy and Commerce, etc.
