[edit] Continuity claims
This is OR, but from observing Wikipedia it appears that "continuity hypotheses" are on the rise, at least among educated patriots (or at least, expanding from the semi-educated to the reasonably educated demographic). I am quite used to seeing this stuff from the "2nd world" and newly industrialized, countries, especially the Balkans
- Macedonism
- Origin of the Albanians ("Illyrianism")
- Theories on the origin of Croats
- Indigenous Aryans cum Out of India
what is new is that there appears to be a slow revival of national mysticism masquerading as scholarship in Europe, apparently in connection with Nouvelle Droite "new nationalism" (Euronat).
- Paleolithic Continuity Theory can actually claim some support within academic fringe, http://continuitias.com Eurocentric, essentially Italian
- Neo-Nordicism, http://nordish.com -- Talk:Nordwestblock
- English, http://www.proto-english.org/ [1]
- "Celtic" -- Stephen Oppenheimer
these "theories", even up to within para-academia, usually presuppose that linguistic heritage is strongly linked to genetic heritage, in spite of 200 years of scholarship establishing the opposite. genetic memory meets national mysticism. c.f. "metagenetics".
